The US Midwest HRC index increased 2.79% week on week to $1,243.80 per short ton. Mill outages, low inventories and restricted spot offers drove the increase, while agricultural, logistics and data-centre demand provided additional support. The restart of US Steel’s Gary Works blast furnace may provide some relief, but its immediate effect is expected to be limited.
