Fastmarkets reports that the UAE’s suspension of trade with Iran could further disrupt billet and finished-steel flows across the Middle East. Iran had reportedly supplied around 100,000 tonnes of billet per month to the UAE through Oman. Alternative supplies from Saudi Arabia, Oman or the Far East may carry higher freight costs and longer delivery times. Restricted Hormuz shipping is adding further uncertainty to regional CFR prices.
